The Holidays at Vintage Township

I’ve decided that some places are just special. It’s the places that can make you feel something real. Something that stands out among day to day life and makes you think “this is how life should be.” Fortunately as a parent, I am lucky enough to have those moments more often through the joy I see in my 3 year old daughter as she grows and learns each day. We recently experienced one of those moments at one of the many events that Vintage Township puts on throughout the year for the neighborhood and in many cases for the entire Lubbock community.

Vintage Township Winter Wonderland kicked off this past weekend on Saturday, December 2nd on a very cold and wintery day. We arrived bundled up in our heavy coats with the twinkle of the lights of the Enchanted Forest in our eyes. My daughter just couldn’t seem to get out of the car fast enough. As soon as we stepped in Winter Wonderland’s Enchanted Forest, she took off running, determined to see and do everything all at once.

Over 50 trees shown all around in a rainbow of colored lights and the forty foot decorated Christmas tree with its star glowing up above sparkled for attention with its up-beat holiday music and synchronized lights. This was one of the first stops on my daughter’s highly excited exploration of the festivities. When we finally caught up, we saw that she wasn’t the only little one drawn to the tall and beautiful tree. A handful of children had surrounded the tree and were dancing to the synchronized Christmas music and lights in an adorable and humorous display of dance antics.

Did I mention it was cold? It was so so cold, but the children were completely unfazed by it, running here and there from lighted tree to tree, around the trees, and back again to their parents to tell them again what they were seeing or to point out something new. My daughter made instant friends with the other joyful children and started up a game of chase around the lighted Christmas trees, while my husband and I smiled and tried to keep up.

Then they noticed the huge red sleigh with Christmas presents piled in back. Well, of course, they had to climb in, laugh and insist that we take a picture. Minutes later it was on to the wooden mural of Santa’s elves to play peek-a-boo in and out of the poseable elf faces. Then with another spurt of energy she ran to stop and study the perfectly timed musical flashing group of Christmas trees at the far side of Enchanted Forest. You couldn’t help but smile and there was a feeling of just pure happiness as children, siblings, moms, dads and grandparents enjoyed the night of holiday wonder despite the cold.

Then it was time to go and as we climbed back in the car, my daughter asked when we could come back to the “Christmas tree forest.”

These experiences, those special moments are what Vintage Township is all about. They’ve created a place, almost frozen in a simpler time when family time was something to look forward to and memories were made every day in every season. Winter Wonderland at Vintage Township

As you put the final touches on your Thanksgiving shopping list, Vintage Township in Lubbock, TX, is gearing up to put the “wonder” into Winter Wonderland. Recently featured in the December 2011 issue of Texas Highways magazine, this annual event in Lubbock, TX has gained a reputation for being Lubbock’s largest and most festive free Christmas light show with all the extras. This event benefits the U Can Share food drive, with the only admission to the event being two cans of food per car of visitors. Winter Wonderland has grown each year to include more events and activities to spread holiday cheer for the whole family.

Beginning Friday, December 2nd, 2011 at nightfall, Winter Wonderland will begin with the Grand Illumination. Children and adults alike will be delighted with the glow of thousands of bright lights that adorn the trees and special Christmas visitors of the Enchanted Forest at Vintage Township’s Founders Park. Over 50 lighted trees ranging in height from two feet to 10 feet surround the 40 foot tree at the heart of the Enchanted Forest decorated with even more lights and adorned with fanciful ornaments.

Guests may explore the Enchanted Forest among the lighted trees and discover Santa’s Sleigh and even a few of Santa’s elves wrapping gifts. You might even find that despite the weather when you arrived it is suddenly snowing (thanks to the “magical” snow machines of the Enchanted Forest.

The smell of sugar cookies and hot chocolate fill the air from the outdoor concessionstand, while the clippity-clop sound of a horse drawn carriage rides catches your attention. Santa & Mrs. Claus will arrive to listen to the Christmas wishes of boys and girls and pose for pictures in the Vintage Township Sales Office.

These wonderful events will take place on Friday & Saturday nights for the first three weekends in December. Your ticket to holiday wonder is simply a donation for the U-Can-Share food drive. A magical experience you’ll only find at Vintage Township at the corner of 114th Street & Quaker in Lubbock, TX.

2011 Fall Tour of Homes: Vintage Christmas Tours

If you chose to skip the heat wave this summer along with the Lubbock Parade of Homes in August or if you just love to tour unique and beautiful homes in general you won’t want to miss the Annual Christmas Daytime Home Tours at Vintage Township.

Each year, this highly anticipated annual event showcases 6 of Vintage Township’s most beautiful homes. Each home is a work of art complete with unique custom interior and exterior features all elegantly decorated with holiday flair. This wonderful late fall tour of homes will take place on Saturday, December 3rd from 10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Tour maps, tickets and holiday refreshments will be available on event day at the Vintage Township Sales Office located at 12002 Trafalgar, Suite 102. If there’s one thing at Vintage Township in Lubbock, TX that’s for sure, it’s that there is always something going on and some fun to be had for everyone. No matter what your personality or stage in life, the Vintage Township community offers something rarely found anywhere else. True community spirit where neighbors get together even on a monthly basis to socialize, organize a book club, put on a bible study, organize a Grandmother’s Coffee Social, scrapbook with friends, host a cigar society, or participate in a community wide event like our 3rd of July Celebration all within our neighborhood.

It has been amazing to me how easy it is to “plug-in” at Vintage. Whether you relocated to your new home in Vintage from New York or if you’ve lived in Lubbock for years, the community embraces you. Fall Events at Vintage Township

It’s much more than just beautiful houses at Vintage Township! We have so many great events coming up this Fall, you will not want to miss out.

Join us Saturday, October 8th for our 2nd Saturday Showcase of Homes from 1:00p to 4:00p. Vintage will be offering free home tours of some of the most beautiful and unique homes in Lubbock, TX. If you’ve never attended one of our 2nd Saturday Home Tours before, you are truly missing out. A different selection of homes are featured each time including new homes for sale as well as custom built Vintage resident homes open exclusively for this event. Tour maps will be available at the Vintage Sales Office on event day.

Vintage will also be hosting a Fall Farmer’s Market on Saturday, October 8th provided by Lubbock’s own Sunburst Farms. Fresh from the field fall harvest vegetables, home made baked goods and sauces, and a special selection of pumpkins of all sizes and shapes will be available. Join us on the front steps of the Vintage Township Market Hall from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. to stock up on Fall’s most delicious farm fresh goodies.

Coming up next in October will be the Fall Concert in the Park on Saturday, October 22nd starting at 7:00 p.m. Enjoy live music by some of Lubbock’s best local musicians at Founders Park and treat yourself to a choice of food and refreshment by local restaurants.
